Kitchen glimpse / Keittiövilaus

Here are a few glimpses of our kitchen, which isn't even that new anymore. It's just taken us a surprisingly long time to bring it all together. We're planning to add an old round glass lamp to the ceiling, which is still hiding in the attic somewhere, and hope to find a fairly low old cupboard to go against the wall on the right, where we can hide the microwave and other bits and bobs. The kitchen is a small, L-shaped space that was sectioned off the previous large kitchen, with our daughter's room now on the other side. The cupboards carry on a little further to the left of the hob with the fridge right at the end, which these pictures don't show. We used basic Ikea kitchen frames for the cupboards, and my clever husband built wooden doors to fit around them. I was dreaming of concrete worktops, but in the end we went for grey quartz. Sorry about the bad quality of the photos, a rubbish camera + a dim space isn't the best possible combination. We installed an old arched window in the in-between wall, so at least a few rays of natural light enter the kitchen. I'll have to get some more photos up soon.

Tässä muutama vilaus keittiöstämme, joka ei ole enää edes niin kovin uusi. Aikaa vaan mennyt vietävästi näinkin pikkutilaan ja vielä on esim. lamppu hukassa vintillä (tarkoitus ripustaa kattoon vanha yksinkertainen pallolamppu) ja vanha pienehkö kaappi hakusessa oikealle jäävälle seinälle, jonne saisi esim. mikroaaltouunin piiloon. Keittiö on siis pieni, L-mallinen entisestä isosta keittiöstä lohkaistu tila, jonka toisella puolella on nyt tyttären huone. Kaapisto jatkuu vielä pikkuisen uunista vasemmalle, jääkaappi viimeisenä, ei vaan näissä kuvissa näy. Kaapistot koostuvat Ikean perusrungoista, joihin mies näppäränä rakensi puiset ovet. Betonitasot olivat pitkään haaveissa, mutta päädyttiinkin harmaaseen kvartsiin. Huonoa kuvanlaatua taas pahoittelen, huono kamera ja muutenkin hämärä keittiö ei ole paras mahdollinen kombinaatio. Väliseinään upotettiin vanha kaari-ikkuna, josta saadaan sentään pikkuisen luonnonvaloa. Täytyy laittaa lisää kuvia taas jossain vaiheessa.
